Newsbreak.com's attack on KC Concepcion is out of line

Senator Kiko Pangilinan have responded to the article posted on Newsbreak.com on August 11, 2009 entitled “With KC around, who needs pol ads?” and we definitely agree with the senator because in our opinion also, the comment was way out of line, harsh and negative. Obviously, the writer does not know the many advocacies that KC have supported.

Kiko on KC article: Harsh, uncalled for

I am writing in relation to an article commenting on my daughter KC's registration as a voter, and its coverage thereof (“With KC around, who needs pol ads?”, posted on August 11, 2009.) I wish to clarify that as an individual, KC has supported many advocacies empowering young Filipino voters, such as ABS-CBN'S Boto Mo Ipatrol Mo in 2007, YouthVotePhilippines' R2V (Register 2 Vote) concert in 2008, and this year's Register & Vote campaign. I am fortunate that KC shares my advocacies to empower young Filipino voters, but I wish to underscore that all of KC's efforts remain non-partisan in light of her post as World Food Programme National Ambassador against Hunger.

I feel, therefore, that the phrase "ethics breach", stated in the article, is harsh and uncalled for. As an elected official and a reform advocate, it has been one of my advocacies to get first-time voters to go out and register. It is a drive shared by many colleagues and friends in the public sector, the private sector, and the artist community. In fact, our Rock the Vote concert series has been supported by the likes of Isabela Gov. Grace Padaca, Naga City Mayor Jesse Robredo; artists Parokya ni Edgar, Kamikazee, Rivermaya, Hale, Moonstar 88; and many others. Together, we have been working to engage the electorate despite our differences in political affiliation because we want to communicate that voting is a right and a responsibility—regardless of whom one ends up voting. It is crucial to get our message out to the public because we stand to disenfranchise up to 7 million voters in 2010 if voter registration is not heavily promoted.

I appeal to you, our friends in media, not to color these efforts with malice and suspicion, as we are doing our share to engage our citizens in democratic processes. The public's choices in 2010 are entirely up to them, but it is our responsibility to arm them with the information and the capacity to be able to make these choices themselves.

Our burger night at the Island's in Pasadena, CA

>> Friday, August 28, 2009

We love hamburgers too and we usually go to In and Out which is for us the best among fast foods. But if we go for a little gourmet style, Island is our favorite. Since it's Friday which is our hamburger night, we treated ourselves with delicious burgers, french fries and Spinach Artichoke dip and chips. I'm glad we were there early because it got crowded when we left.

Noynoy Aquino will run for higher office

Yes, Noynoy will run for higher office if the people will show support by wearing a yellow ribbon as a sign of commitment to help change the country. Noy and Mar still needs to talk about who will run as president and as vice president and how they will unite their party. Noynoy is getting more support everyday but final decisions will remain to be seen and to be announced in about a week or so.

MANILA, Philippines -- Paint the town yellow if you want Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III to run for a higher post in 2010.

Aquino, son of the late President Corazon Aquino and martyred Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr, made this call in his continued search for an answer to the increasing clamor for him to either run for president or vice president next year.

“Wear something yellow on your person, notes, with your ID, panglagay sa bahay, sa sasakyan para mapakita na marami tayo ditong umaasa at magcko-commit na babaguhin natin itong ating bayan [something that you can put in your house, in your car so that we can show that there are a lot of you who are committed to change the country],” he told reporters.

“The signature campaign is good but wearing that yellow, pwedeng yellow ribbon para mas klaro baka naman sabihing nagkataon lang na naka yellow, talagang nagko-commit ka [it could be a yellow ribbon to show your commmitment because some might say that their wearing yellow was just a coincidence], a public statement, the people around you that I’m committed to doing something about my country,” he said.

The young Aquino said running for a higher post would be a difficult decision if he could not get the support of the people.

“If this is only my ambition, pointless. If a lot of people will share the ambition of where we want to go, then that's a certainty. But if I will be the obstacle that will prevent this certainty, I will not (in the way. If I am alone, then this nothing. It's like asking for the moon," he said in Filipino.

Calls for the senator to seek a higher post have been mounting since the death of his mom.

But the young Aquino has been reluctant to accept the challenge, citing the emotional state of his four siblings -- Ballsy, Pinky, Viel, and Kris.

“I am the most sensitive. When my mom and my sisters cry. What if all four cry on me? It's like three-fourths of our lives have been devoted to this and we are no longer young …” he said.

But he is confident that his family will heed the call of the people once they see the genuine clamor for him to continue the legacy of his parents.

“I think if they see that there is really a clamor, then we have an obligation that we have to fulfill and my sisters will not back down. What I am hoping for is that their decision will be something that will come from their hearts," he said.

At this point, Senator Aquino said, he and his family were praying and consulting many people to help them make the right decision.

And this process of consultation will formally begin from within the senator’s political group, the Liberal Party.

Senator Aquino disclosed that he would meet this weekend with their party president, Senator Manuel "Mar" Roxas, who has been endorsed by some party leaders to be their standard-bearer in 2010.

“Mag uusap kami[We will talk]…At the very least, maumpisahan yung buong proseso [we can start the whole process],” he said.

He said more people who were asking a meeting with him granted his request to wait until after September 9, the 40th day of Mrs. Aquino’s death.

Found kidnapped woman Jaycee Lee Dugard was hidden in CA backyard for 18 years

You would think that at least one or two neighbors would be able to form suspicions in their minds to alert the police to check the family. In this story, there was none for 18 years. Neighborhood watch should now include watching, not only the criminals but also neighbors who acts beyond the standard manners. The story of Jaycee is a great example. Read this:
PLACERVILLE, Calif. – A girl snatched on her way to school was hidden for nearly two decades behind a series of fences, sheds and tents, even giving birth to her suspected abductor's children in the suburban backyard compound less than 200 miles from her childhood home.

Jaycee Lee Dugard, who was 11 when she was abducted from a South Lake Tahoe street in 1991, was taken directly to the house and sheltered from the world in a secret, leafy backyard, investigators said Thursday.

Her abductor, investigators said, raped her and fathered two children with her, the first when Jaycee was about 14. Those girls, now 11 and 15, also were kept hidden away in the backyard compound behind the Antioch home.

"None of the children have ever been to school, they've never been to a doctor," El Dorado County Undersheriff Fred Kollar said. "They were kept in complete isolation in this compound."

Even a parole agent who visited 58-year-old Phillip Garrido's home didn't have an inkling about the hidden compound, Kollar said. Garrido is a registered sex offender on federal parole for rape and kidnapping convictions.

"The way the house is set up, the way the backyard is set up, you could walk through the backyard, walk through the house, and never know," Kollar said.

"He's had her for 18 years. Now, it's our turn. I have no compassion for this guy," he said Friday morning on ABC's "Good Morning America."

But neighbors said there were clues even before a parole agent on Wednesday noticed Dugard, now 29, who accompanied Garrido, his wife and the children to a parole office.

Neighbor Diane Doty said she could see the tents and often heard children playing in the backyard, the corner of which abuts her own backyard. She said she even suspected the children lived in the tents, but her husband said she should leave the family alone.

"I asked my husband, 'Why is he living in tents?'" she said. "And he said, 'Maybe that is how they like to live.'"

Dugard's stepfather, who witnessed her abduction and was a longtime suspect in the case, said he was overwhelmed by the news after doing everything he could to help find her.

"It broke my marriage up. I've gone through hell, I mean I'm a suspect up until yesterday," a tearful Carl Probyn, 60, told The Associated Press at his home in Orange, Calif.

Carl Probyn told CBS' "Early Show" Friday morning that he spoke to his wife late Thursday after she reunited with Dugard and everyone was "doing great."

"I think they're pretty happy," he said, noting six people were together at the reunion — Jaycee Dugard, her two daughters, her sister, mother and another relative.

In interviews on NBC, ABC and CBS Friday morning, Probyn said the most surprising thing to his wife was that Jaycee looks very young, almost like she did when she taken.

Probyn also said Dugard felt terribly guilty for bonding with her captor, and her family felt troubled by learning the facts of how she was forced to live for 18 years.

Garrido, 58, is being held for investigation of various kidnapping and sex charges. Authorities said his 54-year-old wife, Nancy Garrido, was with him during the kidnapping in South Lake Tahoe and she also has been arrested.

The case broke after Garrido was spotted Tuesday with two children as he tried to enter the University of California, Berkeley, campus to hand out religious literature. Officers said he was acting suspiciously toward the children. They questioned him and did a background check, determined that he was a parolee and informed his parole officer.

Garrido was ordered to appear for a parole meeting and arrived Wednesday with Dugard, who identified herself as "Allissa," his wife, and two children. During questioning, corrections officials said he admitted to kidnapping Dugard.

Investigators said he did not yet have an attorney.

Dugard was reunited Thursday with her mother as her family learned that their blue-eyed, blonde ponytailed little girl had spent most of her life in captivity. Police said they had no evidence that she had ever reached out to anyone beyond the compound walls.

"She was in good health, but living in a backyard for the past 18 years does take its toll," Kollar said.

The backyard compound had electricity from extension cords and a rudimentary outhouse and shower, "as if you were camping," Kollar said.

Authorities said they do not know if Garrido also abused his daughters, but they are investigating.

Garrido's compound was located in Antioch, a city of 100,000 about 170 miles from the Dugard family home in South Lake Tahoe.

People who knew Garrido said he became increasingly fanatic about his religious beliefs in recent years, sometimes breaking out into song and claiming that God spoke to him through a box.

"In the last couple years he started getting into this strange religious stuff. We kind of felt sorry for him," said Tim Allen, president of East County Glass and Window Inc. in Pittsburg, Calif., who bought business cards and letterhead from Garrido's printing business for the last decade.

Three times in recent years, Garrido arrived at Allen's showroom with two "cute little blond girls" in tow, he said.

In April 2008, Garrido registered a corporation called Gods Desire at his home address, according to the California Secretary of State. During recent visits to the showroom, Garrido would talk about quitting the printing business to preach full time and gave the impression he was setting up a church, Allen said.

"He rambled. It made no sense," he said.

In a blog that appears to have been maintained by Garrido, he wrote that he had hired a private investigator to verify his ability to speak to people using only his mind. In an "affadavit" posted there, he said he had the ability to "control sound with my mind and have developed a device for others to witness this phenomena."

Garrido gave a rambling, sometimes incoherent phone interview to KCRA-TV from the El Dorado County jail Thursday in which he said he had not admitted to a kidnapping and that he had turned his life around since the birth of his first daughter 15 years ago.

"I tell you here's the story of what took place at this house, and you're going to be absolutely impressed. It's a disgusting thing that took place from the end to the beginning. But I turned my life completely around," he said.

In addition to kidnapping allegations, court records showed both Garridos were being held for investigation of rape by force, lewd and lascivious acts with a minor and kidnapping someone under 14 with intent to rape. Phillip Garrido also faces allegations of sexual penetration.

The AP, as a matter of policy, avoids identifying victims of alleged sexual abuse by name in its news reports. However, Dugard's disappearance had been known and reported for nearly two decades, making impossible any effort to shield her identity now.

Garrido has a long rap sheet dating back to the 1970s.

He was convicted of kidnapping a 25-year-old woman whom he snatched from a South Lake Tahoe parking lot, handcuffed, tied down and held in a mini-warehouse in Reno, according to a November 1976 story in the Reno Gazette-Journal.

He also has a conviction for rape by force or fear stemming from the same incident, and was paroled from a Nevada state prison in 1988, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

In 1991, police believe he was trolling for victims in South Lake Tahoe in a Ford Granada when he snatched Dugard from a bus stop outside her home. The case attracted national attention and was featured on TV's "America's Most Wanted," which broadcast a composite drawing of a suspect seen in the car.

Her stepfather said he saw someone reach out and grab her before the car sped away.

"As soon as I saw the door fly open, the driver's door, I jumped on my mountain bike and I tried to get to the top of the hill but I had no energy," Probyn recalled. "I rode back down and yelled at my neighbor, 911!"

Probyn said his wife, from whom he is separated, was devastated by the kidnapping. He said for 10 years after the crime, she would take a week off work at Christmas and on the anniversary of the abduction and spend the time crying at home.

Jaycee Lee Dugard has retained custody of her children and was staying at a Bay area motel, authorities said.

Katrina Halili's libel case against Hayden Kho's mother junked

>> Thursday, August 27, 2009

This is the first case that Katrina filed that was junked by the QC Prosecuter's office. People wondered why Katrina filed several irrelevant cases left and right when the issue was about her sex video with Hayden Kho. Many blog commenters left nasty comments against Katrina for accusing Irene of damaging her reputation. They asked "what reputation?"

MANILA – The Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday dismissed the libel complaint filed by Katrina Halili against Irene Kho, mother of cosmetic surgeon Hayden Kho, due to lack of probable cause.

In its resolution, the prosecutor’s office said Halili failed to prove that Irene acted with malice when she accused the sexy star of using illegal drugs during her television interviews in May.

Meanwhile, Halili’s legal counsel, lawyer Raymund Palad, said he has yet to see the copy of the resolution.

Palad said he and his client will no longer file any motion for reconsideration before the prosecutor’s office. Halili’s camp will instead go directly to the Department of Justice and file a petition for review, he said.

Halili filed two counts of libel against Irene after the latter accused the actress of using illegal drugs and influencing her son to become a drug user during her television interviews on "TV Patrol World."

Halili and Irene’s son, Hayden, got involved in the sex video scandal, which is now the subject of investigations by different agencies of government. [ABS-CBN}

I love CPK

>> Wednesday, August 26, 2009

Yes! I love CPK or the California Pizza Kitchen. We love their Miso Salad a looooot which is, for us, the best  salad ever! It has everything we like: shrimp, crab, avocado, edadame, lettuce, chinese cabbage, wonton wrapper, and more. The miso dressing a little sweet but is light. Perfect combinations. I usually order this pasta with shrimp, but because Miso Salad already have a lot of shrimp and crabs, we decided to just have the plain pasta with grilled tomatoes, basil and goat cheese. Oh sooo good. Love love love it! CPK always serves bread and butter to start with which is my husby's favorite. He always asks for at least 3 servings before the main course.

Senator Edward Kennedy died at age 77

HYANNIS PORT, Massachusetts (Reuters) – U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy, a towering figure in the Democratic Party who took the helm of one of America's most fabled political families after two older brothers were assassinated, died at age 77, his family said.

"Edward M. Kennedy, the husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle we loved so deeply, died late Tuesday night at home in Hyannis Port (Massachusetts)," the Kennedy family said in a statement early on Wednesday.

Kennedy had brain cancer, which was diagnosed in May 2008.

He was one of the most influential and longest-serving senators in U.S. history, a liberal standard-bearer who recovered politically from a string of personal scandals to become known as a consummate congressional dealmaker.

Charice' new Christmas song is a duet with David Archuleta

Charice has never slowed down. She's everywhere with her music and as reported in Manila Bulletin today by NRJ Ramos, here is the latest:

A Twitter account said to be owned by international Filipino singer Charice Pempengco revealed that she had finished recording a duet with “American Idol” 2008 runner-up David Archuleta for his forthcoming Christmas album.

The update was uploaded early July 29. The name of the Twitter account is “Officialcharice.”

And despite fans ‘twitting’ for the young singer to disclose more details about the duet, Charice--yet again on Twitter-- could only say that “ it’s a duet” and that fans should “wait for it.”

Charice also relayed a “thank you” to David Archuleta, saying that “[the recording] was such a pleasure to do.”

As of this writing, there was no message on David Archuleta’s Twitter account regarding the duet.

Meanwhile, Charice was among the personalities who modeled for the “Face 2 Face” photo exhibit held recently by young and enterprising beauty consultant Jake Galvez at the Fiamma Bar and Resto, Makati City. Other celebrities featured in the exhibit are Alessandra da Rossi, Bianca Gonzalez, Sid Lucero, Angel Locsin and Brent Chua.

Charice will be part of the forthcoming “Wowowee” US tour. She will also sing in the “David Foster and Friends” concert this October.

Last Aug. 24 at the press conference for her “Your Songs” concert, Lea Salonga lavishly heaped praise on Charice, naming her one of three best local singers alongside Nikki Gil and Regine Velasquez.

“She possesses a very fantastic talent,” Lea lauded.

John Lloyd Cruz can be a better young Ninoy than Piolo Pascual

The plan to film the life and love of President Cory Aquino is moving on slowly but surely. The first choices as approved by Kris and siblings are Vilma Santos as Cory and Piolo Pascual as young Ninoy. Kris Aquino says her family prefers Piolo Pascual over Cesar Montano to play Ninoy in a biopic and she went on to explain that based on her late father's age, Piolo fits the role more than Cesar. But a lot of people expressed their opinion as well that personality wise, Piolo does not fit the role of Ninoy either and that Kris and family should be more open in considering other actors like John Lloyd Cruz whose looks can come closer to Ninoy’s than Piolo’s. But the final decision is still up in the air and nothing has been offered to anyone yet. On the other hand, it’s unanimous for Vilma Santos because she is really an actress for all seasons and she can 100% do justice to the role.

Charice will be part of the “Skate for the Heart” show to be held at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates on Sept. 19. The show is a special event combining top skaters and popular singers to raise awareness of heart disease. Charice will sing together with “American Idol” singer, Jordin Sparks. Angel Locsin and Luis Manzano’s break up

This news that’s been going around were not yet confirmed by either of the two but it’s being noticed already these past week that they both have become quite distant and nothing have been heard or written about them. They used to be open in their relationship but now, it seemed to have died down. Could it be that they really have gone separate ways or, as they always say when asked, that they were just two busy. Sooner or later, the truth will reveal itself and we hope it’s not true because they are good together.

Marian and Dindong no longer hide their love affair

Unlike before when they non-stop deny everything written about their relationships, Dingdong and Marian no longer hide anything. Now we can say that all speculations written before were true or became true. Dingdong and Marian are now off and on screen lovers and their display of emotions are being captured in prints. Those hugs, touches, kisses cannot deny the fact that these two are lovebirds as seen in Marian's recent birthday party.

Dingdong's appearance was more than enough to recharge Marian's energy. Almost instantly, Marian and Dingdong became inseparable. Throwing knowing glances, smiling at each other, whispering sweet nothings, holding hands—all done while under the public's prying gaze, which was made more intense by the camera flashes. [PEP]

Michael Jackson will be buried Aug. 29 at Forest Lawn in Glendale, family confirms

>> Tuesday, August 18, 2009

Breaking News!

Michael Jackson's family confirmed this morning that the pop star will be buried Aug. 29 at Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale.
In statements to various media outlets, a family spokesman said the ceremony would be private and would take place at the sprawling cemetery's Holy Terrace section.
The announcement comes a day after Joe Jackson told the New York Daily News about the burial plans on what would be the pop singer's 51st birthday. Joe Jackson said the burial plans were finalized in the last few days.
Plans for the burial have been the subject of much debate for weeks. Some family members said they wanted Jackson buried at Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara County. Joe Jackson said he favored having the pop star laid to rest in Las Vegas as part of a new venue honoring him.
There was a private memorial service for Jackson at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills last month, followed by a public service at Staples Center.
As of Monday, Los Angeles police sources said they had not received official confirmation of any burial plans.

The complete statement from the Jackson family:

Michael Jackson will be laid to rest at Holly Terrace in the Great Mausoleum at Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif., on Saturday, August 29, 2009, at 10:00 AM PST, on what would have been his 51st birthday. The private ceremony will be limited to family and close friends. There will be accommodations for the media nearby.
The Jackson family once again wishes to express its gratitude to Michael's fans around the world for their support during these difficult times.

Bongbong Marcos' comment about the President's "lavish" dinner

Bongbong Marcos is cousin to Martin Romualdez who allegedly paid for the infamous dinners the Arroyo and party had while in the US and here is his comment:

It is not that expensive but if there is any fault, it was because they were insensitive," he said.
Of course, for the rich, it’s not that big of a deal. Unfortunately, majority of the Filipinos are poor and were unable to relate. But we know that most of these rich people in the government became rich from stealing from the poor. The point is their dinners are still expensive in the eyes of the Filipinos because of poverty level. Therefore, it’s time that we change and be more honest in choosing our leaders. We have to stop making these evildoers rich. It’s time that the poor enjoy what are rightfully theirs. Our vote is our future!

‘Spectacular’ rat-eating plant found in Palawan, Philippines

>> Monday, August 17, 2009

The huge carnivorous pitcher plant called Nepenthes attenboroughii, said to be the largest meat-eating plant, was discovered at Mount Victoria in the municipality of Narra. “The plant produces spectacular traps which catch not only insects, but also rodents,” McPherson told Irvine. “It is remarkable that it remained undiscovered until the 21st century,” he added.

Mar, Korina's wedding date set on October 23, 2009 ala 'People's' wedding

Mar Roxas and Korina Sanchez has finally set and revealed their wedding date to October 23, 2009. The wedding is expected to be the biggest for this year and will be open to the public which is understandable since both are public figures. People are looking forward to seeing Mar and Korina's grand wedding but some people continue to insinuate that the two are settling down only to boost Roxas’ reported bid for the presidency. But there really is nothing wrong with that. What is important is that Roxas is one of the most qualified to be the next president of the country.

The high-profile couple announced on “The Buzz” that they are tying the knot on October 23.

The senator said they chose to get married in October because that month is special to them. Sanchez and his brother, Dinggoy, were both born in October, Roxas explained. Dinggoy passed away after battling cancer.

“[Iyong date na] 23 swerte sa amin ‘yan, both in astrology at Chinese calendar. Sa numerology naman sinabi nila 2 at 3 kapag pinagsama, 5, buntis. Maganda iyon,” Roxas said.

“The Buzz” reported that Roxas and Sanchez are still looking for the “perfect church” within Metro Manila. Among the churches being considered are Santo Domingo Church and Manila Cathedral, the entertainment show said.

Event organizer Mike Niñana said the couple wants a big church that will not only accommodate their respective families and friends but the public as well.

“Ang gusto nila invited ang public, magkasya. So ang importante, people's church. Pangalawa malaki, magkasya lahat, hindi lang iyong mga kaibigan nila. Alam mo naman sila public figures,” Niñana said.

The two have not been spared from speculations ever since they announced their engagement early this year. Rumor has it that Roxas, a possible presidential contender in 2010 elections, was merely using Sanchez for his political ambition.

The popular broadcaster, however, scoffed at insinuation that the two of them are settling down only to boost Roxas’ reported bid for the presidency.

The broadcaster told StarStudio magazine that she and Roxas, her boyfriend of five years, are getting married because they believe now “is the best time for both of us” to do so.

Kris says no to politics and yes to having another baby

Kris Aquino has been saying no to politics reminding us what mom Cory told her that she can only run for public office if and when she’s ready to be 'simple'. Kris claims she’s not yet 'simple', therefore, she's not yet ready. But Kris has other plans in mind and that is to have another baby, preferably a baby girl.

"By 2010, baby James won’t even be in pre-school,” she said. "I want to have another baby. I talked to James about it… and sabi niya, 'Sigurado ka?' Kasi knowing me baka mga four months or five months bed rest yan. Sabi ko sa kanya, 'Habang kaya pa subukan natin.'”

Kris said she is praying for a baby girl who will hopefully look after Joshua.

“With Josh's special needs, grabe ang burden kay baby James. So, sana madagdagan, if it’s God's will…Pero kung boy ang ibigay, okay lang din. Basta gusto kong maging tatlo ang anak ko, sana,” she said.

Although she is not running for public office, Kris said she will continue the legacy of her mom by continuing her charity works.

Vilma Santos is perfect choice for Cory biopic

Vilma has confirmed that she is being considered for the role of Cory Aquino in her biopic and she's so elated, excited and proud to do it. Everything is still in the planning stage and already, people are raving for it. Vilma states that, if ever, this will be the most important and challenging role of her life.

"Definitely malaking malaking karangalan po, not only flattered - but honored - na nababanggit ang pangalan ko na gustong gumanap sa buhay ni Madame president Cory Aquino. I'm honored but ito po ang isang klase ng pagganap na hindi basta-basta," Santos said.

If Santos is given the part, she said it will be her biggest challenge yet.

"This is not an ordinary film. Ang taong gagampanan ko dito ay nakita mo kung paano minahal, ni-respeto. Kung gaano kalaki ang kredibilidd at kung paano siya binigyan ng honor. So, hindi po madaling trabaho ito,” she said.

President Cory, role model for all ages

>> Wednesday, August 12, 2009

The Philippines has a new role model today and it's none other than our most beloved President Cory Aquino, whose life, love and faith continue to inspire and strengthen us. She is indeed the role model for all ages. She was an excellent student, an obedient daughter, a loving and faithful wife, a perfect mother, an honest leader, a trusted friend, an artist and a practicing Catholic Christian. If ever we can vote for her for the last time, it will a vote to make her a hero and a saint.
Fr. Felman gathered some of President Cory's quote that he's sharing in his blog and I'd also like to share it with you..

Here are some of the quotes of Tita Cory I gathered around the net, a testament of her faith…
1. “There is much that women can bring into politics that would make our world a kinder, gentler place for humanity to thrive in.”
2. “As I came to power peacefully, so I shall keep it.”
3. “I would rather die a meaningful death than to live a meaningless life.”
4. “Faith is not simply a patience that passively suffers until the storm is past. Rather, it is a spirit that bears things – with resignations, yes, but above all, with serene, blazing hope.”
5. “I am not embarrased to tell you that I believe in miracles.”
6. “I guess my religious faith sustained me more than anything else.”
7. “It wasn’t until we got over the self pity that we were able to accept suffering sufferign as apart of our life with Christ. A man or woman reaches this plane when only when he or she ceases to be the hero.”
8. “It’s not just in politics that you can be a servant of the people, you can do it in so many other ways.”
9. “I am not an icon of democracy. You are all, collectively, the icon of democracy.”
10. “I would like to ask the many Filipino people to pray together, to help each other so that we will be able to preserve the democracy we restored 20 years ago.”
God bless you Tita Cory…+

Star Cinema to do a biopic of Cory Aquino

Malou Santos of Star Cinema is now forming a creative team for the biopic of our most beloved hero and saint, President Cory Aquino. It will be for international release and Kris Aquino has immediately agreed to the project. Love story is going to be the focus of the film.

In the movie, Malou wants the movie to depict the following:
How Cory was courted by Ninoy.
How she coped when her husband was incarcerated for seven years.
How Cory took care of her family as a single mom when they were on exile in the US for three years in the 1980s.
How she’s like as a daughter, a sister, and a friend.
How religious she is.

ABS-CBN and Star Cinema is said to be eyeing Piolo Pascual to play the role of the young Ninoy and Vilma Santos as the adult Cory. Excellent choices for such a big project but hopefully, there will be no conflicts for these two in accepting the roles when the offer becomes official.

Vilma Santos to show her house in Alabang for third episode

Vilma never ceases to amaze her fans. She is indeed an icon, the woman for all seasons. Still very much a hyper most of the time, but she always takes time when it comes to finances. She budgets and follows it religiously, making sure every penny is accounted for. The first episode of her one-month special program was just a “patikim” and it already revealed the Vilma that most people didn’t know. This coming Saturday, August 15, for the very first time, Vilma takes us to a tour of her home in Alabang and for sure there will be more revelations and excitement. Angel Locsin will host this episode so let’s all watch it.

Google's secret project - check it out and try

>> Tuesday, August 11, 2009

For the last several months, a large team of Googlers has been working on a secret project: a next-generation architecture for Google's web search. It's the first step in a process that will let us push the envelope on size, indexing speed, accuracy, comprehensiveness and other dimensions. The new infrastructure sits "under the hood" of Google's search engine, which means that most users won't notice a difference in search results. But web developers and power searchers might notice a few differences, so we're opening up a web developer preview to collect feedback.

Some parts of this system aren't completely finished yet, so we'd welcome feedback on any issues you see. We invite you to visit the web developer preview of Google's new infrastructure at http://www2.sandbox.google.com/ and try searches there. More here.

Michael Jackson's "This Is It" film to be released Oct 30

Michael Jackson's "This Is It" concert never made it to the stage in London, but it will be making its way to the silver screen in a little less than two months. On Aug. 10, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge approved the sale of the concert's rehearsal footage by Jackson's estate and promoter AEG Live to Sony Pictures Entertainment. Sony will release the finished This Is It film worldwide on Oct. 30.

The film is a chance to "to give audiences the gift of his final performances," said Michael Lynton, chairman and chief executive officer of Sony Pictures Entertainment, in a statement released after the court's decision. "I know this film will serve as further proof that Michael Jackson is one of the greatest entertainers who ever graced a stage."
