Teodoro, Villar unsure about going after Arroyo if elected president

>> Friday, January 29, 2010

ABS-CBN reports:

Of the 8 contenders who participated in the ANC presidential youth forum held in De La Salle University in Manila, only Teodoro and Villar gave passive replies on whether they would hold Arroyo responsible for all her alleged misdeeds during her 9 years in office.
Teodoro is the administration’s candidate while Villar, who has allied himself with the opposition, is the standard-bearer of Nacionalista Party (NP).
Not a surprise at all because we know well that Teodoro is the Arroyo administration candidate and that Villar, apparently a coward leader, won’t perhaps face anything that has nothing to do with his business and wealth - and I can’t imagine how he will lead a country that has sank years ago from sever corruptions starting from the Marcos administration. Aquino stressed the need for “closure” on many issues and scandals that caused the people to loose confidence in our government. All the others said they would actively go after the outgoing president, who may face a deluge of cases--from corruption to human rights violations--when her term ends on June 30.

'Ninoy a hero, Villar a coward' - no comparison

>> Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Villar's quote in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News comparing himself with Ninoy Aquino shocked and irked many people including Ninoy's son, Noynoy and his camp.

"Villar should defend himself according to his own merits, and not by disparaging the untarnished memory of a national hero," a statement from Aquino campaign spokesperson Atty. Edwin Lacierda said.

"In the case of Ninoy, he was tried for his obstinate opposition to authoritarian and repressive rule, even in the face of certain death, while Villar is being asked to answer serious corruption charges and unethical conduct where the penalty is censure and retribution, a far cry from the death penalty imposed on Ninoy," Lacierda said.

"Ninoy was tried by a kangaroo court that was subject to the whims of a dictator while Villar was accorded every opportunity to defend himself in a democratic and transparent process which he repeatedly ignored," he added.

"There is simply no comparison; Ninoy is a hero. Villar is nothing but a coward," Lacierda said.

Aquino III also had some harsh comments for Sen. Arroyo, who served as executive secretary of the late former President Corazon Aquino.

Aquino III said that Sen. Arroyo today is different from the human rights lawyer and freedom fighter of the past.

Senator Aquillino Pimentel's attitude not fit to be in any leadership

Unfortunately, this is the kind of leadership we have in our country.

Pimentel made the apology through a prayer that he recited before the opening of the Senate session on Tuesday...

"Dear Lord, we, your senators, are embroiled in a stormy debate over a controversy involving a colleague of ours. In the heat of the discussion, some of us tend to use words that are coarse and vulgar. To those who I might have hurt in this chamber by the use of intemperate language or unseemly expressions, I apologize and beg their forgiveness through you, Lord," said Pimentel.
...but refused to apologize directly to the person he offended.
On Tuesday, Roxas, who remained hurt and offended by the remark, said Pimentel did not need to apologize to him, but to Sanchez.

Mag-apologize siya sa misis ko kasi siya ang tinamaan ng kanyang kabastusan," Roxas said at a press conference after the 64th anniversary celebration of the Liberal Party (LP).

(He doesn’t need to apologize to me. He should apologize to my wife because she was the one affected by his rude remark.)

During the same press conference, LP senatorial candidates had likewise slammed Pimentel for making the remark.

"At the age of Nene, he should know what is right and what is wrong," said LP senatorial candidate Sonia Roco, wife of the late Senator Raul Roco.

Before he decided to make the apology through a prayer, Pimentel said in a text message to GMANews.TV Tuesday that he was willing to say sorry to anyone he had hurt with his remark.

"If I hurt anyone, [I] am ready to apologize but not on imagined political partisan slights," he said.

However, when the senior lawmaker was asked by reporters if he would heed Roxas' call for him to apologize to Sanchez, Pimentel said, "How did Korina come into the picture? I have no quarrel with Korina."

New! Dancing Inmates doing Michael Jackson's This Is It

>> Monday, January 25, 2010

It's bigger and better. The Philippine "Dancing Inmates" from Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC), a maximum security prison, were treated to a visit by Michael Jacksons long-time choreographer Travis Payne and dancers Daniel Celebre and Dres Reid to learn performances from THIS IS IT. They even have a new dancing uniform. Watch video:

Senator Pimentel should apologize for his rude and out of line "sex joke”

Throwing a sex joke towards Senator Mar Roxas while having a serious senate session, yes, Senator Pimentel should apologize. That was rude, out of line, and disrespectful towards Korina as well.

Charice in Italy, bravo!

Lyrics in English:
I don't know where to find you
I don't know how to reach you
I hear your voice in the wind
I feel you under my skin
Within my heart and my soul
I wait for you
All of these nights without you
All of my dreams surround you
I see and I touch your face
I fall into your embrace
When the time is right I know
You'll be in my arms
I close my eyes and I find a way
No need for me to pray
I've walked so far
I've fought so hard
Nothing more to explain
I know all that remains
Is a piano that plays
If you know where to find me
If you know how to reach me
Before this light fades away
Before I run out of faith
Be the only man to say
That you'll hear my heart
That you'll give your life
Forever you'll stay
Don't let this light fade away
Don't let me run out of faith
Be the only man to say
That you believe, make me believe
You won't let go

Cory swatches launched - I want one

>> Sunday, January 24, 2010

A celebration to honor a hero and saint:

The watch is a collector’s item and is almost sold out.
There are only 801 sets of Cory Aquino tribute watches in the world. They cost P8,100 for each set. [ABS-CBN News]

The numbers 8 and 1 stand for August 1, the day when Cory died of colon cancer. Original Swatch watches usually cost around P3,000 to P7,000.

The Cory Swatch set includes 2 watches, one of which is tagged with a serial number, encased in a picture book called “A Woman Dressed in Sunshine” written by Makati City Rep. Teodoro “Teddy Boy” Locsin, Cory Aquino’s press secretary and speechwriter.

At the back of the book is a stylized copy of a letter written by one of the country’s richest businessmen, Don Jaime Zobel de Ayala, the day after the former president died.

The two watches vary in design. One has a lemon yellow watch face with a steel watch dial, while the other has a black watch face printed with a yellow sun.

Both, however, have yellow and black straps printed with a shower of yellow ribbons and the faces of Ninoy and Cory Aquino.

The watch straps also bear the words “Ipagpapatuloy Ko!” in bold black letters.

Noynoy's girlfriend speaks up

>> Tuesday, January 19, 2010

When PEP asked Shalani to comment on Kris' issue, here is her comment:

Kris will always be Noynoy's sister. When asked to comment on the current issue about Kris's married life, Shalani hesitated because she doesn't know the whole story. (CLICK HERE to read related article.)

"Tungkol doon sa personal na nangyayari sa kanya, I am not very much aware of the facts, so I cannot comment," the lady councilor politely answered.

However, while many think that Kris's marital problem would give a negative effect on her brother's presidential bid, Shalani says otherwise.

"Well, I think Noy is his own person, e. So, kung ano ang mako-contribute ni Kris, is also very good, considering na she's a very credible endorser," she said.

The media also asked Shalani's reaction about comments saying that the Liberal Party, the political party she and Noynoy belong to, should not get Kris as an endorser anymore.

The lady councilor said it would not be possible.

"Well, number one, I don't think that the party will prohibit Kris to be the endorser of Senator Noynoy," she explained. "Number two, Kris will always be the sister of Senator Noynoy and Kris will always be a credible endorser.

"I don't think the Liberal Party will [intrude] doon sa family affairs or personal na buhay ni Kris. It has never been the stand of the Liberal Party to gain personalities, more on issue-based, e. So, I don't think they would prohibit Kris, or anyone else with that regard, to endorse Senator Noynoy."

Councilor Soledad talks more about her full support to the presidential candidacy of Senator Noynoy Aquino in Election Watch, PEP's special microsite for the 2010 elections.

What's the connection of Kris' marital problem with Noynoy's candidacy?

>> Monday, January 18, 2010

I don't get this! Do they think Filipino voters are this stupid?

What irked Kris is how some people have dragged her brother Noynoy into the brouhaha when Noynoy has absolutely nothing to do with it. An uncle of Mayen’s insinuated that he wasn’t going to vote for Noynoy, which was uncalled for. It was the same uncle who texted everybody only a few minutes after the incident happened that Wednesday, thereby perhaps blowing it out of proportion and starting the whole controversy.

James Yap: I never cheated on Kris

James Yap said:

“I’ve never cheated on Kris,” insisted James. “I have never been unfaithful.
That's nice, but it's not because Kris is beautiful that James should be faithful but because of his commitment to the marriage.

Kris Aquino is on the right

>> Friday, January 15, 2010

It's fiesta in the political arena because Kris' latest incident is being used against Noynoy and that is just stupid. Kris did the right thing and many people are on her side in this issue. The fan-atic woman named Mayen was sending text messages after text messages to Kris' husband, James Yap. Kris did what every wife would do to protect her right and family. But to include Noynoy in the issue is just too shallow and nonsense.

Read PEP's full report:

Published as is: "To everyone. Kris Aquino passed by house to make me sugod. She spoke to my mom. Very mad, berating us saying i always text and call james. That my mom didn't bring me up right. That we shouldn't be talking to married men. She said she's leaving james and to know that i am the last straw and the reason for their break-up. My family has great respect for Teopacos who are our family friend. Mrs. Teopaco is Cory's youngest sister. My mom raised us right. My mom didn't deserve all that. James missed called and texted na he warned me pupunta siya [Kris] sa house. He called me to apologize and say sorry. Kris said we had something going on. I don't deserve this. Most especially my mom. I have chemical depression and could have easily taken an overdose of pills because of the incident. With the hugs and love of my mom and sisters, and tranquilizers, i'm okay. Do you want Kris to be in malacanang."

BACKGROUND.

"It reached my sister," sabi ni Kris sa telepono. "I imagine it could've been sent to more people, including the media."

"You won't see me putting this out on SNN. I'm not the one to start, and make this an issue. It's a domestic thing. But I can't control what others will do with this. I don't know if other editors and reporters have already been sent this text."

At may sinasabi raw na, "James, what's wrong with me?

Angel Locsin's newest suitor is CNN Hero Efren Peñaflorida

>> Monday, January 4, 2010

Our CNN Hero have madly fallen in love and it's something to watch out for and look forward to for 2010, so let's wish Efren "good luck".

MANILA, Philippines - Actress Angel Locsin has a hero for a suitor this new year.

Just weeks after being named 2009 CNN Hero of the Year, Efren Peñaflorida is still on cloud nine.

Aside from the rush that comes with bringing home an international award for his advocacy, he also met Locsin, his biggest crush, during the flight to the United States.

Aside from her acting talent, Peñaflorida said he also grew fond of Locsin because of her good heart.

Cornered on Sunday, it was Locsin's turn on the hot seat.

She told "The Buzz:" "Before pa magkaroon ng award sa kanya, magkaibigan na kami sa Facebook... Nagkita kami bago ako pumuntang Emmy. Sabay kami sa eroplano kasi. Doon kami nagkakilala talaga."

Amid reports that Peñaflorida is seriously pursuing courtship, Locsin gave her side on the issue.

Gusto ko friendship muna ako," she said.

She admitted that the celebrated young Filipino visited her at home.

"Pumunta siya sa bahay. Kinausap ang daddy ko. Mas una niyang kinausap 'yong dad ko kaysa sa akin," she said.

Peñaflorida said he will take his chance with pursuing love.

Prepared ako doon sa kung ano man ang mangyayari," he said. -ANC
