Justin Bieber's Paternity Suit Dropped

>> Wednesday, November 16, 2011

I just feel this is going to go nowwhere and will soon be dropped. Obviously, the woman got what she wanted: publicity.

Justin Bieber and his accuser Mariah Yeater
The suit, which alleged that the pop superstar fathered a child with 20-year-old fan Mariah Yeater, was dismissed last week, says TMZ.com. Her lawyers reportedly withdrew from the case following a call from Bieber's lawyer, Howard Weitzman, threatening legal action.

The case was set to go to court Dec. 15, and Bieber, 17, was prepared to take a paternity test to prove he was not the father of Yeater's 3-month-old baby.

Yeater, who was seeking financial support, may have also faced statutory rape charges. (In the state of California, the age of consent is 18, and Bieber would have been 16 at that time of the alleged sexual encounter, according to Yeater's accusation.)

"It's sad that someone would fabricate malicious, defamatory and demonstrably false claims," a rep for Bieber previously told PEOPLE in a statement. "We will vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to defend and protect Justin against these allegations."

In the suit, Yeater alleged that Bieber, who is currently dating fellow pop star Selena Gomez, lost his virginity to her backstage at an L.A. tour stop.

But Bieber was adamant about drowning out "the rumors" and "the gossip" from the get-go, he previously Tweeted.

"I know that I'm going to be a target," he said two days after the suit was filed, "but I'm never going to be a victim."

Casey Anthony's prosecutor writes his book about the case

Caylee and Casey Anthony

Retired Florida prosecutor Jeff Ashton calls the trial arguments of Casey Anthony's defense team, which resulted in an acquittal for the accused murderer, "a complete crock of crap" in a new book published Tuesday.

"I've written a book to let people know the truth about the case from my perspective," Ashton tells the Orlando Sentinel of Imperfect Justice, Prosecuting Casey Anthony.

In the 322-page book, the paper reports, the lawyer writes that once her trial was underway Casey told two mental health professionals that her 2-year-old daughter Caylee had drowned in the family swimming pool – deliberately killed by Casey's father, George.

She also told the experts that her father molested her and she feared a similar fate awaited Caylee.

"I have seen my share of liars, but never one quite like this," Ashton writes in the book, according to the Sentinel. Later he states, "In many ways, I think the defense came to mirror the client they represented."

In its report on the book, Central Florida's News 13 quotes Ashton as saying that the introduction of the death penalty in the case was not a good idea, because the jury would never go for it.

Of Anthony's defense attorney, Jose Baez, Ashton writes, as quoted by the Associated Press: "There is an unearned air of arrogance about the man that is incredibly frustrating to witness. The word I used in describing Jose is smarmy: somebody who is slick, underhanded and doesn't shoot straight."

Ashton writes that he felt numb when the verdict was delivered, and he dedicates his book to Caylee, "so no one forgets."

Marquez's dirty secret is now out, Pacquiao is the true winner

>> Tuesday, November 15, 2011

A video showing the “foot tricks” played by Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez against Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao during their bout Saturday night (Sunday in Manila) in Las Vegas, Nevada is going viral over YouTube and Facebook, a report from Radyo Inquirer 990AM said Tuesday.

The video entitled “Foot Stopper Trick by Juan Manuel Marquez” caught the counter-puncher stepping on Pacquiao’s foot six times.

Juan Manuel Marquez left foot steps on the right foot of Manny Pacquiao during their bout last Saturday, Nov. 12, 2001, at MGM Grand, Las Vegas. Pacquiao won a controversial majority decision. KEATS LONDON (PDI-US CORRESPONDENT)
The video showed Marquez stepping on Pacquiao’s foot during the last 0:11 seconds of the 4th round; 1:18 seconds of the 6th round; 1:49 seconds of the 7th round; 1:27 seconds of the 8th round; 1:23 seconds and last 0:52 seconds of the 12th round.

Apart from the video, a picture also spreading on social networking sites showed a member of Marquez’s team giving the Mexican boxer a plastic bottle of unknown yellow fluid.

According to WBO rules, a boxer who is engaged in a fight is only allowed to drink water.

Pacquiao won over Marquez via majority decision. His victory stirred controversy as the public here and abroad thought that Marquez had won or should, at the very least, have gotten a draw.

Marquez said he was “robbed again” of the victory, following two other controversial matches with the Filipino eight-time world champion in 2004 and 2007 which ended in a draw and split decision respectively.
